Born in Warsaw, an oenologist and philosopher, a passionate translator of Hungarian literature, studying in Budapest and Warsaw, fascinated with the person and the works of Sándor Márai, she has translated many of his short stories (Magia, Stara miłość), novels (Pokój na Itace, Pokrzepiciel, Sąd w Canudos, Trzydzieści srebrników, Rozwód w Budzie, Ta prawdziwa), essays and columns (Kronika niedzielna), as well as travelogues (Śladami bogów, Porwanie Europy). She has also translated works by György Spiró (Salon wiosenny, Diavolina) and Dezső Kosztolányi (Złoty latawiec), as well as continuously discovering little-known Hungarian authors for the Polish reader, such as Albert Wass (Czarownica z Funtinel), Miklós Bánffy (Trylogia siedmiogrodzka, only excerpts so far), and Gábor Zoltán (Orgia, also, unfortunately, only excerpts). She has received numerous scholarships from Hungarian cultural institutions, and has been recognised by the Milán Füst Foundation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as well as being awarded the Hungarian Cross of Merit for her achievements in promoting Hungarian literature and culture. She is a member of the chapter of the Marek Nowakowski Literary Award.
